The NY Jets Offense is Offensive

Sunday morning every Jets fan woke up and followed the Miami Dolphins vs Kansas City Chiefs with the hopes that a Dolphins loss could help the Jets win the AFC East for the first time since 2002. Then, Jets fans did the same for Sunday Night Football as the Buffalo Bills faced the resurgent Bengals. The Dolphins and Bills both lost. Fair to say every NY Jets fan was excited for Monday Night Football against the worst passing defense in the NFL with the hopes to wake up Tuesday morning half a game out of 1st place. This was also the opportunity for their inept quarterback to have a big game and gain some confidence.

None of that happened. Instead, Gang Green’s offense scored a measly 6 points. Everybody wants to put all the blame solely on Zach Wilson, but the entire offensive staff, including the Players, deserves the blame following this atrocity. From the coaches thinking Billy Turner was capable of starting, to Allen Lazard being unable to catch a football even if he was given spider tack from Gerrit Cole, the entire offense failed this Super Bowl caliber defense tonight, no ifs ands or buts about it.

The collective issues are highlighted due to the main point of concern on the Jets offense.

Zach Wilson.

I can sit here and list everything that Wilson does wrong on a nightly basis, but it would be a waste of time, we all know what his issues are. We are in year 3 and the Jets have quarterback who no offensive coordinator in the National Football League could ever trust. Fans witness this every offensive possession.

Run to Breece Hall for 4 yards.

Play Action.

Fail to convert on 3rd down.

Punt.

Repeat.

Nathaniel Hackett does not trust Zach Wilson, and neither does any Jets fan. A reporter asked Robert Saleh during the post game interview if he thinks Zach Wilson trying to not throw interceptions and being too careful with the ball is causing an increased number of sacks. Saleh stumbled over his words and couldn’t answer the question. Is this something that the coaching staff was too amateurish to realize? The Jets offense has been sacked the 3rd most in the NFL according to Statsmuse with 31 after 8 games with 8 sacks allowed against the Chargers tonight.

The Jets have arguably the worst offense in the NFL and have managed only 8 touchdowns on offense in 2023, with one of them being an early Christmas present from the Eagles. They have the 31st ranked offense in yards per game, 32nd ranked offense in total yards, 32nd in total passing yards and 31st in total points. We have just finished week 9 after entering a season where most analysts predicted them to be a Super Bowl contender. However, the Jets offense appears to be contending for the record of worst offense in NFL history. It is a miracle this team is 4-4 at this point in the season. Zero credit goes to the offense, they are offensive.
